Expands Cultural Experiences for Tourists

The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu is thrilled to announce that it offers more opportunities to touch the culture of Kyoto. Since the hotel opened in 2020, it has provided guests with exceptional chances to experience the rich traditions of the region.

One of the standout offerings is the “Maiko Performance.” Maiko and geiko are Kyoto dialect expressions for geisha. While maiko, or apprentice geisha, attract many tourists visiting Kyoto, it is rare to see them in the city.

To enhance travelers’ cultural experiences, the hotel has held weekly events exclusively for its guests, featuring captivating performances by maiko from the historic Miyagawa-cho district since last May.

Starting this April, The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu will expand opportunities to attend the “Maiko Performance,” increasing the event’s frequency to twice a week.

This change allows more hotel guests to immerse themselves in authentic traditions.

Watching performances is not the only way to engage with Kyoto’s culture; guests can also savor traditional cuisine at the “SUSHI-BAR@library.”

Last autumn, the hotel introduced the “SUSHI-BAR” at its restaurant, “restaurant library the hotel seiryu,” on limited nights.

This unique dining experience allows both staying and non-staying guests to enjoy one of Japan’s traditional foods, sushi, along with a selection of à la carte dishes.

Guests can immerse themselves in the serene atmosphere of Kyoto’s traditional area during the evening while enjoying delicious dishes.

In a bid to provide travelers with more opportunities to enjoy Japanese cuisine and culture, the hotel will expand the availability of the “SUSHI-BAR” to every night starting this April.

The highlight of the menu will be the “Signature Course – Sushi Temari.”

Temari-sushi, a type of sushi that originated in Kyoto, was designed for maiko to enjoy without compromising their makeup.

By indulging in this signature dish, guests will have the chance to engage with Japanese culture in a meaningful way.

The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu continues to create more memorable moments and serve as a culturalgateway for travelers seeking to explore Japanese and Kyoto’s rich heritage.
